"Poverty Porn" is an indictment of the misery merchants, sham storytellers, and pretend journalists who treat Appalachia as a backdrop for content.

The song explores a new form of extraction: the mining of regional struggle for content and making a buck. It’s an unapologetic defense of who we are, and a reminder to stop giving permission to those who treat our history as a profit margin.

Our stories aren't a brand deal, and our struggle isn't your bankroll.

"Remember Blair Mountain" tells the story of the rednecks and the Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest labor uprising in U.S. history. In 1921, over 10,000 West Virginia coal miners took up arms, fighting 3,000 deputies and state police for the right to unionize southern West Virginia and to free their jailed comrades. This violent conflict only ended when the miners refused to fight the United States Military. This is the true legacy of West Virginians, and the actual, defiant meaning of what a real redneck is.

“West Virginia Water” is a song that I wrote about the water crisis that plagues all of West Virginia. I’m in Wyoming County where all we have are water problems, but these problems are all through our state. And no matter the reason for these issues, we all face the same consequences.

Water that we can’t drink, water that we can’t bathe in, water that we can’t wash our clothes in, and water that we can’t brush our teeth in.

Water that kills us.

”It’s Wyoming County water
It’s McDowell County, too
Depending where you are
It’s strong as some home brew
It's West Virginia water
It’s what we’re used to
But we ain’t dying no more
For the pockets of a few"

ICE raided our local Mexican restaurant, Ole Jose Grill and Cantina, in Pineville, WV this week, and it’s left a hole in our community that’s hard to ignore.

It’s one thing to see these headlines on a screen, and to support them from afar, but it’s another when the people being taken are your friends and neighbors, the same people you see every day. And when losing those friends and neighbors also means losing a very popular local business, it makes the cut go even deeper.

Watching our small town try to make sense of this has been an interesting thing to see. Things hit different when they’re on your doorstep.

It’s never too late to start speaking up.

"The Mendacity Tour" is a visceral, anti-war anthem that pulls no punches, blending the raw grit of Appalachian protest music with a modern, urgent warning. With lyrics that bridge the gap between historical cycles of violence and the looming threat of nuclear escalation, the song serves as a scathing critique of a "Mendacity Tour" fueled by greed, oil, and the exploitation of the poor. It’s an unflinching call to action for those tired of marching in the wars of rich old men.

Another Murder in Minneapolis

Alex Pretti, a nurse and lawful gun owner, was murdered by ICE agents in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

He got between an ICE agent and a woman that had been pushed to the ground. He had a cell phone in his right hand, and his left hand was empty and in the air. He was pepper sprayed, tackled to the ground by multiple ICE agents, and shot 10 times.

The official story claims self-defense, but the videos all show that he was not holding a weapon. This is Renee Good all over again. Don’t let the narrative get twisted. This was murder.

Written and recorded in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, "Another Murder in Minneapolis" serves as a modern broadside ballad. The goal of the song is to cut through the narrative spin and document the history of the moment exactly as witnesses saw it.
