In the Gazette-Mail

I woke up this morning to a fantastic editorial from the Charleston Gazette-Mail. I'm glad to know the message is resonating, and I appreciate the support everyone has been showing.

The piece dives into the dismal 21% voter turnout from the recent primary, and looks at the voter apathy our state is facing. I agree completely with them that many people are feeling like their voices just don't matter, and I’m glad they're using my song as a framing device to open up that conversation.

From the editorial:

“The issue still stands that 21% of voters deciding who makes it to the November election is hardly a majority-rule situation. Think about that. A majority among two out of every 10 registered voters in West Virginia determined which federal and statewide candidates are moving on, and which Supreme Court and Intermediate Court of Appeals judges will take the bench next year.

Lovejoy is right, people should get out and vote. But they also need a reason to be engaged. Unfortunately, right now, a large percentage of West Virginia voters either don't care, don't feel like their voice matters, or don't like the choices they've been presented."
